HISTORY OF DEVELOPMENT

  • In late 1996, the company began its business as the company G.P.P. Mikić d.o.o. with its headquarters in Omišalj. The average number of workers which G.P.P. Mikić d.o.o. employed in the period was:

    1990.-1992. 40 workers
    1992.-1996. 70 workers

  • In 1992, the opportunity arose to acquire a petrol station in Omišalj which in ongoing operations was shown to be useful given the continual increase in work units within the transport and construction mechanisation sectors.

  • In time, with the development of the company in the area of civil engineering, it directed its business also towards geotechnical and hydrotechnical works, as well as building structures, thereby showing a flexibility and readiness in developing these businesses.

  • On 28 May 1997, the resolution issued by the Commercial Court in Rijeka led to the expansion of the company’s business to tourism-hospitality when the company G.P.P. Mikić d.o.o. became owner of the Malin Hotel in Malinska which the company still operates today.

  • In 2004, the hotel was expanded with a congress centre which comprises of a large congress and three small halls. The stated capacities provide services in organising seminars, congresses and other events for a maximum of 500 participants.

  • In 2007, upon contracting larger capital works in the area of the island of Rab, the conditions were set for relocating production facilities (asphalt base and concrete production facility) as well as construction operations for the purpose of extending competitiveness in that area. Since that time to the present day, many reference projects in construction and civil engineering projects have been completed.

  • In 2008, due to an expansion of business on the island of Rab, the company acquired the Jadran Hotel facility in Lopar which it operates even today.

  • In 2011, an increase in the number of workers created the need for constructing the company’s administration building. It was constructed within the area of the existing business premises in Omišalj, completed and occupied at the start of 2014.

  • Next to the administration building, other buildings were also constructed such as the concrete production facility, central warehouse, vehicle servicing facility and restaurant.

  • During the period of the company’s development, investments were also made in its own accommodation capacities in hotel and apartment facilities, which led to the company creating its own tourist agency called MALIN TRAVEL which today fills the company’s capacities and that of other accommodation providers on the island of Krk.

  • Since 2011, the company has possessed the certificates ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004, as well as the creditworthiness excellence certificate awarded in 2016 by the company Bisnode.

  • Having expanded its business across the entire region of Croatia, especially in the region of central and southern Dalmatia, in 2013 the company Mikić acquired facilities at the location of Vrgorac for the production of stone aggregate, asphalt and concrete.

  • Acquiring the facility in Vrgorac enabled increasing the company’s competitiveness in the region of central and southern Dalmatia and creating the need to establish a business unit in Split which operates and manages all resources in that region.

  • Today, the company Mikić employs 300 workers of which 100 work in tourism and 200 in construction, and that number if continually increasing as is shown in the table below.
